Our Mission

Dedicated to Excellence and Student Achievement

Welcome to El Verano Elementary School, home of the Mustangs! At El Verano, students are at the center of all we do. We are committed to helping each and every student grow, dream, and reach their full potential as a learner. We believe that together we can accomplish this goal by providing a rigorous, supportive, and engaging learning environment for students. We invite you to join us, participate, and be part of our wonderful El Verano community.

Each of us brings our unique strengths, perspectives, and experiences to school. At El Verano, we value the stories our students share. It is our job to listen to these stories and create opportunities for each student to succeed. We know that students are most engaged and motivated when they have the freedom to create, question, investigate, and grow.

El Verano Community Elementary School is a public TK-5 school in the Sonoma Valley Unified School District. We also have an on-site preschool that runs morning and afternoon sessions. We are proud to collaborate with the Family Resource Center, a satellite of La Luz, which offers services and support for our families and the surrounding community. Other programs at El Verano include Vivo Orchestra and Boys and Girls Club, which provide after-school and lunchtime programming for students. Additionally, we have a well-established and successful Mentor Center on campus. We offer various enrichment classes, such as Kids Cooking for Life, and are home to Baile Folklorico, a traditional Mexican dance group we proudly support.

El Verano is a Title 1 school, committed to advancing the opportunities, achievements, and success of all children. We invite you to join our community of learners as we imagine, inquire, and inspire together.

What You Do Is So Important

If you want to help your children thrive, there are a few key things you can do. Many high achievers share two common elements from their upbringing:

  • First, their homes were filled with books, and reading was strongly encouraged.
  • Second, they had a family tradition of regularly eating dinner together.

Surrounding children with books provides endless opportunities to explore, learn, and grow. Books impart knowledge, sow the seeds of wisdom, and share stories that teach about morality and character.

Sharing dinner together allows parents to be a part of their kids' daily lives, helping shape how they think and react. Prioritizing family dinners over other commitments requires a conscious effort, but it also gives children a sense of belonging and reinforces family bonds.
