Valley Vibes Orchestras is an El Sistema-based youth development program that uses music to help create skilled, community-oriented, and healthy youth and young adults. This program invests in young children; expanding access to musical opportunity, empowering youth with individual and group skills and unifying people in common pursuit of artistic, personal and community excellence.

Students can choose to play violin, viola, cello, flute, clarinet, trumpet, or trombone. Children ages 7 and up, learn ensemble, team-building, and leadership skills in addition to their individual instrument. El Sistema was built on a group-based learning model and our students receive instruction in chamber groups, sectionals (with others playing the same instrument), full orchestra and small group/individual sessions. In addition to the playing component, students also learn music theory, music history and have the opportunity to participate in electives such as Latin American percussion, World Music, the science of sound, music technology, composition and improvisation.

Orchestra meets daily (Monday-Friday) at El Verano Elementary. M, Tu, Th, F from 3:30-5:30pm and W from 1:30-3:30pm. There is also a class just for middle school and high school students on Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30. We currently have students from 10 different Sonoma schools attending ViVO and our door is open to any child who has a desire to learn a musical instrument. Program participation is FREE.
